California Trip Inspired Forthcoming MisterWives Album
The New York-based indie act MisterWives‘ new album Superbloom is coming out on July 24 via Fueled By Ramen. According to a press release about the album, it’s “an intensely personal reflection on growth in unexpected places.”
The 19-track release includes five songs also featured on the group’s 2019 EP mini bloom), and it marks “a moment of major transformation” for frontwoman Mandy Lee and her bandmates. A new visualizer for the album is now streaming on MisterWives’ official YouTube channel.
A trip to California’s Antelope Valley to see the superbloom inspired the album.
“Standing amongst the vast and vibrant flowers that weren’t supposed to grow in the desert terrain, I was moved by its beauty and accurate representation of where I was at in life,” says Lee. “Just like the flowers, I had grown in unexpected places. After experiencing a not-so-graceful and incredibly turbulent fall to rock bottom, I picked myself up and slowly grew through the pain.”
I felt an awful lot like these resilient little poppies that came out the other side against all odds – and I think that deserves congratulations.
In April, MisterWives returned with new single and official video for “Rock Bottom,” and last year, the group announced signing to Fueled By Ramen and shared the mini bloom EP, its first release since 2017’s Connect the Dots.
